Dizziness and Balance Disorders
Sound Health partners with Midwest Dizziness & Balance Institute (MDBI) to evaluate patients who are experiencing dizziness. As a result, MDBI works closely with our physicians to not only diagnose but also treat your dizziness.
To begin with, the process involves complete diagnostic testing of 100% of your vestibular (or balance) system. With this in mind, MDBI uses state of the art equipment to fully test your entire vestibular system. Important to realize, they are only 1 of 2 locations in the country that provide Audiologist driven, customized vestibular treatment based on the diagnosis. Once your diagnosis has been made, a full treatment plan is customized for you. The treatment is called Advanced Vestibular Treatment (AVT)™. In fact, it is between 85-93% effective in treating vestibular dysfunction.
Keep in mind, the diagnostic test battery is approximately 4 hours long. It consists of Videonystagmography (VNG), Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (℅ VEMP), Vestibular Head Impulse Testing (vHIT), Rotational Chair Testing, and Computerized Dynamic Posturography (CDP). Additionally, MDBI is the first site in the country to have the new Epley Triax Chair for BPPV.
